Upper School

By Mr. Chris Ames, Upper School Division Head

One of the quotes that I often place on the board outside of my office comes from an ancient Roman philosopher named Heraclitus:  “You can never step twice into the same river.” For many of our Seniors, The Winston School is a very familiar place - some of them have been with us since their Lower School days. While many experiences seem similar to past years, the School, the classes, the teachers, and they have changed. The river they first stepped into many years ago has long since passed downstream. I encourage all of our students, but especially our Seniors, to take advantage of each opportunity and embrace the fact that, as the song says, “We may never pass this way again.” This year is full of wonderful Senior events, family gatherings, award ceremonies, and more. I hope to see you on campus often!

Best,

Christopher Ames
