Position Description:
This full-time position at The Winston School requires an individual who is skilled in teaching students with ADHD, dyslexia and related disorders through multisensory and differentiated instruction. The classroom teacher is highly collaborative and committed to designing and adapting instruction to meet a range of student learning needs and interests. They are skilled in establishing strong relationships with students and provide effective and consistent communication with parents regarding students’ behaviors, academic concerns, and progress.
The Upper School English Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These skills are fundamental to effective communication, develop appreciation for literature of all types, motivate students to read widely for information and recreation, and develop critical analysis of written and oral communications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach five (5) courses and fulfill the role of an Upper School Advisor
- Closely collaborate with Upper School faculty to support students, faculty, and families across the division
- Integrate technology into the curriculum following best practices
- Use classroom management systems that are focused on students’ social emotional needs
- Provide a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate in their own learning
- Model professional and ethical standards when working with students, families, colleagues and the community
Preferred Education, Certifications, and Work Related Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, education, special education, or related field required.
- Graduate degree or graduate-level work in the field of Special Education or learning differences preferred
- Current teaching certification
- Minimum of 2-4 years classroom teaching experience
- Experience teaching students with Learning Differences
- Proficiency with technology, especially Google Suite
- Strong work ethic

Position Description:
The Winston School seeks a dynamic and experienced Physical Education Teacher and Assistant Athletic Director for the 2025-2026 school year. This individual will be instrumental in fostering a supportive, engaging, and challenging environment for students, helping them to build physical skills and self-confidence. As a key leader in the athletics department, this position will include teaching physical education class (Pk4-8) and supporting athletic operations and coaching programs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical education and coaching, a passion for working with bright students who learn differently, and a commitment to developing a well-rounded athletic program in a small school.
This full-time position in K-12 Physical Education requires an individual who is skilled in supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, and other high-incidence, related learning differences through multisensory and differentiated instruction. A Winston teacher is highly collaborative and committed to designing and adapting instruction to meet a range of student learning needs and interests. They are skilled in establishing strong relationships with students and provide effective and consistent communication with parents regarding students’ behaviors, academic concerns, and progress.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, differentiated instruction for students in physical education in grades PreK 4-8th on a regular basis. Additional classes in grades 9th-12th (e.g., Personal Fitness, athletics) are determined in collaboration with the Athletic Director.
- Accommodate and meet the needs of a range of neurodivergent students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADD/ADHD, and other executive functioning and processing challenges.
- Identify, select, modify, and create instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and learning needs, in collaboration with middle school teammates.
- Promote lifelong physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy habits through engaging lessons and experiences.
- Design, plan and implement a curriculum that is grounded in research-based practices in health and physical education.
- Use classroom management systems that are focused on students’ social emotional needs and self-regulation.
- Create and cultivate a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate and grow in their love of sport and self-concept.
- Provide effective and consistent communication with parents and the school’s Student Support Team regarding students’ behaviors, academic progress, and social-emotional development.
- Model professional and ethical standards when working with students, families, colleagues, and the community.
- Perform supervisory duties as assigned, attend and participate in professional learning opportunities, and/or engage in other school-related duties as appropriate.
Assistant Athletic Director Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to schedule games, practices, and events for the school's athletic teams and program.
- Assist in planning and execution of athletic programs, camps, and clinics for all students, including outreach to the local community and various organizations that utilize our facility.
- Work with the Athletic Director to hire, supervise, and support the coaching staff.
- Oversee the daily operation of athletic facilities and ensure all are well kept and meet standards for safety and security.
- Understand and support compliance with local, state, and conference regulations regarding participation, play, and sportsmanship.
- Promote school spirit by encouraging participation in athletics across the student body, embracing our “No-Cut Policy” with a spirit of positivity, and be an exceptional example of The Winston School on campus and in the community.
Coaching Responsibilities:
- Coach at least two athletic teams per year across the three sports seasons, exemplifying sportsmanship and fostering skill development.
- Develop game strategies, conduct regular practices, and support team morale.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating respect, integrity, and leadership in all settings.
- Represent the school positively at athletic and community events and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and faculty.
NOTE: This position will require working outdoors in various weather conditions, physical activity (e.g., frequent bending, lifting, running), and occasional night and weekend work, with some travel (including overnight trips) for athletic events.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field required.
- Teaching certification preferred with certification in teaching Physical Education, preferred.
- At Least three years of teaching and/or coaching experience at the K-12 level; experience teaching and managing young children is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with young people, families, and community members.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for all students, as well as, the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
The ideal candidate has:
- Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field.
- Previous experience in an administrative or leadership role in athletics.
- Experience teaching students with learning differences.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multi-task across teaching, managing activities, and coaching duties.
- Strong work ethic, positive sense of humor, and a commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
