By Dr. Jenn Milam, Pamela K. Murfin Head of School and Interim Middle School Division Head
Good afternoon, Middle School crew!
I hope this finds you well and having had a great week! We’re excited to have your middles for their social event today (I love the MIAMI VICE theme!). We are really having fun together this year following Homecoming and looking toward our Lord of the Flies Mock Trial on Friday - it’s an adventure to be in the middle!
I want to share that I am really enjoying getting to know you and your amazing kids! Each day they share a bit more of themselves as they grow more comfortable being playful, silly, and hanging out with me. I suppose it’s odd that the Head of School is also the Middle School division head, but it sure is a joyful part of my first year to get to be up-close to the students. Not all Heads of School get this opportunity, and I’m grateful that I do! They are great young people!
This week, and into next, please work with your students to ensure they are completing all homework, turning in all assignments, and wrapping up assessments, test corrections, and projects. We want them (and you!) to go into the Thanksgiving holiday all caught up and able to enjoy the break and be bored (hint - check out my Head’s message)!
Thank you to those who joined our Rising 9th Grade Parent Coffee yesterday. I hope you found it useful and informative! Mr. Ames and his crew upstairs are great, and we look forward to growing with you into Upper School. If you missed the gathering, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Ames ([email protected]) to schedule some time to learn about all the awesome things Upper School at Winston has to offer. You’ll be glad you did!
Have a great afternoon and a wonderful weekend.
Be well and take care of one another,
Dr. Jenn Milam
